Located in the heart of the Midwest, Chicago stands as a unique metropolis historically positioned for trade routes along the Mississippi River. The city's skyline, set against the backdrop of Lake Michigan, features impressive architectural landmarks such as the Willis Tower and John Hancock Center. As the third-largest U.S. city, Chicago holds the title of the windiest. For an optimal experience, consider visiting during the milder months, from April to October.



Getting Around


Public Transit: Download the Ventra app to use the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) that operates buses and elevated "L" trails throughout the city.


Biking: Chicago is a bike-friendly city with an expanding network of dedicated bike lanes. Divvy is the city's bike-sharing program.


Rental Car: While not always necessary within the city, car rentals can be convenient for exploring the outskirts or planning day trips.

Downtown / The Loop: Ideal for first-time visitors, offering proximity to iconic attractions.

River North: A trendy neighborhood known for its nightlife, with art galleries, restaurants, and bars.

Magnificent Mile: If shopping is a priority, this puts you in the heart of upscale retail and dining.

Wicker Park: A hip and artsy neighborhood with a lively atmosphere.

Chicago Riverwalk

Navy Pier

Enjoy a relaxed day with rides, attractions, and scenic views of Lake Michigan.



Skydeck


Ascend to the Willis Tower's Skydeck for breathtaking panoramic views of the city from its glass-floored observation deck. The $25 entry fee includes access to interactive exhibits and the Ledge, where you can step out onto glass balconies suspended 1,353 feet above the city.



Cloud Gate “The Bean”



Located in Millennium Park, Cloud Gate "The Bean" is an iconic art installation that has become a symbol for the city. Eighty percent of its surface mirrors the surrounding environment, creating a surreal effect as it reflects the sky and the cityscape. The name "Cloud Gate" is derived from this reflective quality, as the sculpture appears to form a gate-like shape with the bent reflection of the sky.



The Chicago Theatre

This is a classic and iconic Chicago landmark that stands out with bright red and yellow lights in the city. It was built in 1921, but still has a grand and historic appearance where you can watch a variety of comedies, theatrical, and musical performances.



Magnificent Mile


Shop, dine, and stroll along this upscale stretch of Michigan Avenue, featuring high-end boutiques, flagship stores, and iconic landmarks. Comparable to New York’s 5th Ave, this street is lined with more than 450 retailers.



Art Institute of Chicago

Explore one of the oldest and largest art museums in the U.S., featuring a vast collection of over 300,000 artworks.
